Q&A WITH EMMA LYONS
What made you want to get into Fund Accounting?
"I had just finished college and I was ready to use my degree and start my professional career. I knew people who were already in the graduate programme here with Centaur from college and they couldn’t recommend it more than enough to me – 4 years later I’m still here!"
What advice would you give to someone starting their career in fund administration?
"I would tell them to not be afraid to ask questions and that you will be surprised to how quick you would manage to pick things up you might have had little to no knowledge on previously."
How does your team stay close while working remotely?
"We would have a weekly team call or video call where we would catch up on work and anything interesting that might have happened during the week. We also have a group chat where we would always be messaging in which is great as you know that there is constant support from team members despite the remote working."
What’s one thing on your bucket list?
"I would love to go Skiing!"
What is one of your favorite things/passions outside of work?
"I love playing GAA outside of work and have been playing since I can remember. It’s a great way to have been able to maintain friendships and have a nice outlet from working in a home setting. I never thought I would have taken for granted the word sprints when things came to a halt over lockdown!"
One country you’d like to visit in the next 1-2 years? (Pandemic depending!)
"I would love to go to Italy in the next 1-2 years. Between the sun and the option to ski I might be able to cross one thing off the bucket list!"
