Female entrepreneurship was celebrated at a reception at Áras an Uachtaráin, the residence of the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, last week. The President said that the event “provided an uplifting reminder of the depth of female entrepreneurial talent that is developing and flourishing in Ireland.”

Karen Malone, Founding Partner and CEO of Centaur Fund Services, was invited to join other female entrepreneurs at the reception and was warmly welcomed by the President and his wife, Sabina. The President used the platform to acknowledge and celebrate women’s contribution to both the economic and the social dimensions of Irish society. He also highlighted the fact that this year marks the centenary of voting rights being gained for the women of Ireland.

Female entrepreneurship is an important topic for President Higgins who outlined the positive effects of an increase in female participation in senior posts,” said Karen. “Currently women make up just twenty percent of Irish entrepreneurs and the President highlighted the need to increase this number in an environment that supports women who not only have a good idea but can bring it to fruition.”
